Freshman midfielder nets hat trick in Eagles’ upset win over #9 Virginia

Freshman midfielder, Sarah Mannelly, clinches her first WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week honor, for her role in leading the Boston College Eagles to a 10-7 upset victory over the 9th-Ranked Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon. Mannelly led the Eagles in scoring with 3 goals, and added a draw control to her stat line for the day. After a tough loss earlier in the week to Syracuse, and the added inspiration of the “Red Bandanna Game,” Mannelly continued her impressive freshman campaign, marking her fourth hat trick of the season, and bolstering her position as Boston College’s third leading scorer. Mannelly, who hails from New Canaan, CT, was a 2-Time US Lacrosse All-American and the 2012 Connecticut Player of the Year, holding the New Canaan High School records for career assists (138), caused turnovers (197), ground balls (124), and draw controls (158). Mannelly and the Boston College Eagles (5-6) will look to build off of the win when they host Duke, April 6th at 1PM EST.
