WomensLax.com Player of the Week - Mikaela Rix

Mikaela Rix – Boston College

Sophomore scores game-high 4 goals in 10-9 upset of #6 Duke

Boston College’s sophomore midfielder, Mikaela Rix, earns her first-ever
WomensLax.com Player of the Week honor, after leading the Boston College Eagles to a 10-9 victory over the 6th-ranked Duke University Blue Devils.  Rix recorded a game-high 4 goals against the Blue Devils, marking the 6th time she’s recorded 3 or more goals in a game this year.  Rix, who lead the team in scoring, also played a pivotal role in the faceoff department, recording 4 draw controls on the day.  So far this season she leads the team in draw controls (39) and ground balls (21).  With Rix’s help, the Eagles became the only team besides #1 or #2 North Carolina to defeat the Blue Devils this season.  The win over Duke marks Boston College’s second win over a top-ten ranked opponent in as many games and their first over Duke in program history.  Rix and the Eagles will look to continue their winning ways when they take on New Hampshire Wednesday at 4PM.
