Drexel’s senior midfield/attacker, Kelli Joran, clinches her first WomensLax.com Player of the Week honor, for her significant contribution to a historic day for the Drexel Dragons. The 2-0 Dragons entered the game unranked, facing the 11th-ranked Penn Quakers for the ninth time in program history. Joran demonstrated her leadership and rose to the challenge, manufacturing 3 goals, 1 assist, 2 caused turnovers, and 3 draw controls in the 11-8 upset win. Joran, a PA native, has been a key factor in Drexel’s 3-0 start, their best since 2010. Joran continues to increase her offensive output; she entered the season on an eight game scoring streak, and has notched a hat trick in all 3 of Drexel’s games thus far, including 5 points (3g, 2a), 1 caused turnover, and 5 draw controls in 12-6 win over La Salle earlier in the week. The senior leads her team with nine goals and four assists thus far on the season. The victory over Penn marked Drexel’s first since 1993, their second in program history. Joran and the Dragons will look to remain undefeated when they head to St. Joseph’s on Friday at 1 PM.
