Claire Petersen – Stony Brook

Sophomore Attacker breaks NCAA single game assist record

Stony Brook’s senior attacker, Claire Petersen, clinches WomensLax.com Player of the Week honors, after a record breaking day for the Stony Brook Seawolves.  In Saturday’s 21-3 victory over Longwood, Petersen dished out 11 assists to break the NCAA single game record (previously held by Hannah Nielsen of Northwestern and Emily Cooke of Davidson at 10).  But Petersen wasn’t done there.  She added 2 goals to her totals to give her 13 points, surpassing her own previous school record of 10.  Petersen was making plays all over the field, adding 2 ground balls, a draw control, and a caused turnover to her totals for her record setting day.  Petersen, the team captain, will look to continue to help #19 Stony Brook climb the ranks when they head to Poughkeepsie, NY to take on the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday at 4 PM, then host the Maryland Terrapins Sunday at 1PM.
