Junior midfielder leads UMass to second consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship
UMass' junior midfielder, Jackie Lyons, clinches her second career WomensLax.com Player of the Week honor, after an impressive performance in the Minutewomen's A-10 Championship run. Lyons scored 5 goals, added 2 assists, and picked up 4 ground balls in Sunday's 12-10 victory over top-seeded Richmond. Lyons also recorded a hat trick in Friday's semifinal match as UMass avenged their regular season finale loss to LaSalle. Last week, Lyons was named the A-10 Offensive Player of the Year, and with UMass' postseason hopes on the line this past weekend, she proved why. Lyons leads UMass and the Atlantic 10 conference with 46 goals and 65 points on the season. UMass will return to action against top-ranked Maryland next weekend, and will await the winner of the MPSF Championship to determine their opponent for the NCAA play-in game.
