Redshirt Senior leads Dukes in successful weekend against top-five ranked opponents
James Madison's senior midfielder, Kim Griffin, clinches her first career WomensLax.com Player of the Week honor, after two impressive performances as the Dukes battled 5th-ranked Virginia and 2nd-ranked Maryland this past weekend. The Dukes topped Virginia in dramatic fashion, for the first time in nearly 10 years. JMU trailed for much of the game, but continued to battle and found themselves within one goal with less than three minutes left to play. Griffin assisted on Ashley Kimener's goal which tied the game at 9, and then put away the game winner with only 11 seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Dukes. Griffin's game winner was her second in a week, both over top 20 teams (March 17th vs. #13 Princeton). Just three days later, Griffin and the Dukes gave 2nd-ranked Maryland all they could handle in a 7-8 loss. Griffin led the Dukes with 2 goals and 2 assists in the loss. The redshirt senior leads James Madison in goals and points with 25 goals and 34 points on the season. Griffin and the Dukes (7-2) head into Conference play on April 9th when they take on defending CAA Champion, Towson.
