Karri Ellen  Johnson : Maryland

 

Freshman midfielder leads Maryland with 6 points in season-opening victory

 

Maryland's freshman midfielder, Karri Ellen Johnson, receives the first WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week award of 2009 after notching 5 goals and an assist in her collegiate debut. Johnson led all scorers with six points and added 5 draw controls as the 6th-ranked Terps topped the Richmond Spiders, 17-6. Johnson, a first-team high school All-American, hails from Annapolis MD, where she was a three-sport athlete at Broadneck High School. The Terps return to action for the 2009 home opener when they host the UMass Minutewomen on Saturday at noon.
