Freshman attacker leads the Tar Heels in NCAA Tournament first round victory over the 4th-seeded Virginia Cavaliers

 

North Carolina Freshman, Corey Donohoe, is the WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after leading the unseeded Tar Heels to an upset victory over the Virginia Cavaliers on Sunday. Donohoe notched 5 goals in the contest, including three first-half goals during North Carolina’s 6-0 scoring run that gave the Tar Heels a 6-3 lead going into halftime. The freshman proceeded to tally the final two goals of the contest to secure an 11-7 victory for the Tar Heels. Donohoe leads the Tar Heels in goals (49) and points (60). The Tar Heels will continue their NCAA Tournament run when they take on 5th-seeded Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on Saturday.
